This is a really nice add because it shows important things (what the product is, who makes it, and the year of the model) about an add without showing the product. You can tell it's a car add just by recognizing the speedometer symbol. To this day this piece still absolutely amazes me and it wasn't even that complicated! It's done by a young man in Ohio named Peter Kobak (Yes it's Kobak, not Kodak- that would be pretty darn cool if it was Kodak, and very appropriate!). What I love most about this piece is the angle, the focus, the clarity and the spot color! Also the dimensions of the photograph are unique and different. Except for maybe the style. I admire illustrations like this- black lines and simple color. He's a photographer that has taken his photography to the next level- to books, websites, and posters. One of his more recent series of photographs is called "rebirth". I find that not only are these photographs practicly perfect, they are trillions of times more creative with the ps painted elements on them. The painted element actually reminds me of commercials in which they do this. I could see this as one of those, maybe even a jeans commercial.

Can Somebody say Holy Cow!

Ok there comes a point in our lives when we see the work of another artist and our jaws drop and "holy crapAmoly!" comes out when we see a piece that absolutely just floors us. This is an artist by the name of Chobi who creates art that makes you drop your jaw. Her art is all illustration done on illustrator and each of her pieces just amazes more and more. I would love to one day be able to create art as amazing as Chobi does on illustrator. The details are really quite simple but what she does with the color and patterns is just brilliant. Maybe I'm not familiar with the product, but I can tell what their trying to suggest. Despite the weirdness of the ad I really like the photograph, I think it's really well done and very creative, the crystallized crabapple (or whatever it is) is a little strange, but definitely goes with the theme of the photo. I also like the font they chose for the type and the placement of the type as well. The colors are scrumptious and I just wanna bite into that orange right now! Sounds disturbing if you've ever rinsed with mouth wash, but sounds so nice and fresh... yeah this ad definitely makes me crave the mouthwash, make me want it, but like I said before- heartburn trumps orange Listerine.

Smart Packaging

I don't know about any of you, but every time I go to a bookstore or gas station I always find my eyes looking at these sweet babies. And I always really really want one and totally would buy one except I'm on a freakin' diet! (ask me how that one's going) I just want to drop my pitiful diet and run up to the counter in the gas station and buy one of every kind and sit in my car savoring the luscious flavour of each one (notice the spelling on flavour. These candies are so wonderful that they deserve the fancy spelling).
OK, now that I've made you salivate all over yourself (you might want to wipe it off at this moment) I should tell you that Lindt has found one really successful way of advertising their product by just their product. They use illusrations, clear windows, unique shapes (window, product and packaging), strong colors (not to mention 5 color printing), embossed printing, gloss paper, and perfect product placement (ever notice that they're always on top of the counter if not at eyelevel?)! All that would give me a headache, but as you can see I'm more likely going to stare at these (you guys might want to buy them instead of just stare at them) than I am that cheap 80 cents Hershey's bar. Lindt has definitely achieved brilliance on the candy shelf.

Whoops! Coming to you down the virtual highway is the cutest bunch of snacks you'll ever meet. Meet the Gummy Bears, They are part of a place called Fuzz Academy, started by a woman named Marie Lu these edible pals are not only cuddly and cute but look so darn good on your desktop. This picture shows all the gummies and even shows off the panda-flavored gummy. What makes these squishy pals so intrigueing to my eye? Well we already know I'm a sucker for color, that's one thing, but the other thing is how amazing she colored them. Marie drew them in Flash and colored them in photoshop, and I detect that she used some layer filters on these guys the make them translucent giving them a gummy quality, and some awesome wacom tablet skills. If you look closely you can even see their reflections, which she probably used the transform tool to create.

Fractals Rant Again

I have to admit I'm in love with Lilyas' fractals, they are beautiful, and I believe that anything with this much dazzling color deserves to be noticed. These fractals are just a sample of what she's done but what I think displays some of her most interesting and imaginative work. Her "Out of Phase" piece I am really attracted to because, like I said earlier, the amazing color choices and it's sleek alien-like texture over the 3D object and the plasma-like background. I think it's amazing what can be created on a computer. The next two pictures are some other fractal favorites by Lilya.

Fractals

I don't know about any of you but, I find the art of fractals completely amazing. Fractals is something that is way over my head, but so many people are capable of doing it. Most of the time I love fractals that display wonderful amount of colors that blend in and out rhythmetically. I've even found designers who take photography and implement their fractals with them making the fractals become part of the picture. One of my most admired digital artists, Lilyas displays this in her piece called "Seraphina". The fractal in this picture is very snakelike and adding the face and the snake gives it a majestic, magic look that really captures the eye.

Think Pink CSS

This is a journal CSS layout done by a designer under the name of Lilyas. Most likely because it screams great design. I think I like car ads that have simple backgrounds and this background really makes the satin red and white pop out. The text is simple, not too large or overcrowding. I especially like the quality of the photograph of the car, which isn't uncommon with car advertisements.

Howard Schatz ad

I was just flipping through a magazine when I saw this ad. The first thing I noticed was the great big orange bag, and then I noticed the orange drips that were falling off this sillouheted person and the first thing that came out of my mouth was "that's an amazing ad!" What makes this ad amazing is it's focal point, the big orange bag, which is made the focus of the ad by the color and the gradient of the background. The gradient makes the purse pop without loosing the figure of the female. The female and the orange paint are both directional leading the reader down to the type.
